Mokoroa Falls is an 11m high waterfall . The falls are located in West Auckland. The road there is narrow and windy, and the last 1km of road is gravel, so be sure to take care.
Mokoroa Falls are popular for many photographers. We even managed to get our picture taken by a professional photographer who was getting ideas for an upcoming shoot.
Track to Falls
From the carpark, the track takes a gradual descent through a native forest. Follow the signs until you reach the lookout. Grab a couple of photos here and have some water before you make your way down the easy stair set to the base of the falls. The bottom is the best place to take photos of the falls. Be sure to cool off with a shower under the falls if you’re brave enough, and bring lunch to enjoy in the grass area. You will need to cross the stream at some point to get close to the waterfall, so make sure you bring suitable footwear.
Extra Walk to Swimming Hole
Unfortunately the base of the falls isn’t so great for swimming, as it is quite shallow. Following the track that hugs the river downstream, you will come across a small waterfall and a little swimming hole. Just follow the orange markers.
